Saturday was Loren's family's Easter party. We had a lot of fun showing off Ethan and seeing family. The weather was warm, but windy. It made eating interesting! I love the food they always have. My favorite is the fruit salad. Nummy!
After the party we met up with one of Loren's friends from high school. She is an elementary school teacher and it is always fun to hear some of her stories! We got Jamba juices and walked around the mall while talking. Loren felt a little left out when she and I started looking at clothes. I think he wanted to talk computer, but we weren't a very receptive audience! It was a lot of fun and I discovered a few new stores! Woo-hoo!
Sunday I was speaking in church. Urgh... I am so out of practice! It used to be that if I was given a calling to speak it was just a little thing because I was always speaking in front of people. This is the first talk I've given in quite a long time though! I was pretty nervous. I felt ok about it though, and a few people even sought me out to thank me for some of the things I said. That made me feel good.
We have been called to be sunbeam teachers. I have mixed feelings about that because last time we were sunbeam teachers it was very frustrating. We had an incredibly hard class. Each of the 5 kids who came regularly were a huge challenge individually, let alone all as a group. After we were released, they had a "team" of teachers who took turns. I do like being with the little kids, they are a lot of fun. I just get overwhelmed really easily. When we first talked about it, Loren always used to tell me he wanted lots of kids. Well, as much as I want to do what I'm supposed to(and sometimes in the church that implies that if you only have a few kids, you are being selfish), I'm just not mentally built for more than just a few kids! To be honest, after being pregnant with Ethan I'm not sure I'm physically built for it! I have forgotten what labor felt like for the most part, but I can't forget the feeling of spending months living on IVs... *shudder*
After church we went over to Jason's house and spent some time with him. While we were there, Ethan started sitting up and was sitting up totally on his own for probably almost a minute, at least! I told Jason that he seems to hit a milestone whenever we go over there. The first time he smiled a lot was over there, he swatted at toys over there, and now the sitting. Jason said he will probably take his first steps over there and at the rate we are going, I wouldn't be surprised!
Loren is going to try to work a ten hour day today so he can get ahead for the week. I have a piano lesson tomorrow for a new student so I need to get that all ready. Our house is fairly clean right now, but I noticed that I need to dust again, already. All the wind we've been having reminds me of back home!
