Speech meets and sicknesses from China!

Ethan talking to his elephant in the car seat.

There's a video from last Saturday.

Last Friday night and part of Saturday I was able to help out at a speech meet that UVSC was hosting. Their head coach is one of my really good friends and he knows I love helping with speech. Unfortunately, this year it was a little bit harder, and I couldn't leave Ethan to go judge. I did get to man the registration/ballot table for a while though and that was pretty fun. On Saturday I kept hearing people cough and I decided that I really shouldn't have Ethan there. Everything was running pretty smoothly so I decided to take him home. I miss speech! I don't miss much about high school, but I do miss speech and speech meets! At one point this guy was skipping around playing a ukulele and I thought, "where else but a speech meet could someone do that and not be considered REALLY weird!?" Of course there were things about speech that I didn't like(first and foremost... pizza... more specifically, cold pizza...), but I always felt like I belonged. It was also fun being kind of "in charge" of something. I didn't feel like I was doing a whole lot to help, but I know it needed to be done, and it was fun being asked questions and being able to help. Everyone loved Ethan! He had fun seeing so many new people and smiling at them. He got talking a few times, and I think he liked the attention!

How come whenever I get Ethan back on a decent schedule, one of us gets sick!!!!!??? Saturday, late evening, I started getting really bad stomach cramps and pain. After a while of that I started throwing up. It got so bad I was considering going in to the ER. I had some pain meds left over from when I had my sinus infection and strep throat last month. I knew they were safe to take for feeding Ethan so when I finally remembered about them I took one and kept it down long enough for it to start working. I kept thinking food poisoning, but I couldn't figure out what I ate that might have set it off. Loren realized that I had the same symptoms as one of his co-workers who is from India and had visited home recently. He had a stop in China and is pretty sure that's where he got sick. Another of Loren's co-workers had gotten it and of course, I get anything that's going around, so this wasn't an exception. Thankfully, by morning I was feeling tons better and haven't had any problems since! I ended up sleeping all day today though... but I needed it after last night.

Hmmm... I don't have anything else to say really. At least, nothing exciting! I need to get everything ready to move by Friday. That's all that's really going on now though. So... here are a few pictures from Saturday morning... plus the video up at the top... and... I guess I'm out for the night!
