Some rest for Momma!

Well.... I just woke up from a good three hour nap. Ethan's diaper rash was so sore tonight and he was just bawling. I was so tired that I just couldn't handle it and I was just holding him crying (but not screaming) right along with him. I was totally drained so we were giving Ethan some formula in a syringe(to avoid "nipple preference") and Loren realized he could do that alone. So he took Ethan and told me to go get some sleep. What a wonderful gift! Ethan is full again now, and I'm trying to let him air dry a bit since that seems to be most helpful on his rash. So since I have a minute, I'm going to catch up on another eventful day.
Yesterday afternoon Ethan's diarrhea was getting worse so we called his pediatrician and got him in there. Ethan does have a viral infection that is clearing up on it's own. The diarrhea will come and go for a few more days probably. We just have to keep him really hydrated. The blue around his mouth is ok as long as it isn't his actual lips or inside his mouth, or anywhere else on his body besides extremities(which for his immature system includes around his lips). He was lethargic because he was a bit dehydrated. But as long as I keep him fed it will be ok. It will just come and go until he isn't losing so much fluid each bowel movement. And with his breathing... We have an apnea monitor now to find out how often, if at all, he is stopping breathing for too long. Thankfully it also acts as an alarm so if he does stop breathing, or his heart rate gets to fast or too slow, an alarm sounds and we can wake him up or whatever we need to do. The best part about the monitor is that I can sleep without having to watch Ethan breathing constantly. He is a very shallow breather and he doesn't stir much when he's asleep so after he stopped breathing those times I was holding him I haven't been able to sleep hardly at all because I was afraid of it happening then. Anyway, that's life right now. He wouldn't rest earlier because of his rash, but i think he will soon since the exposure makes it feel better. He's just so peaceful that I don't want to disturb him to put him in his crib. I need to try to get more sleep though so I"m going to try.
